Himalayan Powder Dreams Holidays | ||||||||||||||||
This year we are proud to offer you a totally unique opportunity to combine the winter experience of a lifetime with the wonderful and historical culture of Kashmir. For centuries the Kashmir valley has been cherished by Mughal Emperors and Maharajas for its warm climate, its imposing scenery, its rich produce, and its vibrant colours. The famous Houseboats of Dal Lake in Srinagar were built by the British as they were not permitted to build on land. When the British left India, the boats were left to their servants and butlers to run for themsleves. There are about 1000 houseboats moored around Dal Lake, Nagin Lake, Nehru Park and around the many canals that connect this serene if confusing lake complex. An afternoon's paddle through the old city and the wooded waterways remains one of the most delightful experiences on the entire sub-continent. What better way could there be to relax after a hard week or two's skiing or snowboarding in Gulmarg? |

Hotel Highlands Park 3: |
The Hotel Highlands Park is one of the oldest hotels in Gulmarg, and it certainly has a great deal of colonial character. It is fantastically positioned at the top of the larger of Gulmarg's slopes, with great views of the Himalaya. Inside you will find friendly staff as well as a host of interesting artifacts and photos collected over the years. The bar is a wonderful place to relax and soak up the historical atmosphere. The restaurant, which is decorated with bear and snow leopard skins, serves delicious Kashmiri food. The Hotel is often the choice of ministers, diplomats and journalists visiting Gulmarg. |
