The "JANDORR" HOME PAGE This is "Lotmead", literally part of a Meadow, which it was when we bought the site in 1980. The house was built as a "self build" project and took nearly two years to complete. In 1985 the four acre field "Lot Mead" became available and we have gradually extended the garden which now totals...

AroundTheGarden
Around the Garden Taken in July 2000 and shows the length of the vegetable garden and the extension added on the left of the house in 1991 Two pictures joined to show the view from the house. It's still very open and exposed to the wind, but we do like the view. Large pond centre left. Asparagus bed and fruit...

Parsnips
One way with Parsnips (Or You can start em in pots) Plant three or four seeds in toilet rolls centres or modules. Mine stay in the green house on capillary matting until the first seedling has it's first leaves. If using modules or paper pots remove the bottom and plant out at this stage. Don't wait for all the...

potcapillarymatting.htm
Capillary Matting The pots work well on capillary matting taking up moisture better than conventional plastic pots. Although roots do come through the pot I still tend to remove most of the paper before planting out as I have found that most plants are checked by the paper. Resist the temptation to have the pots...

potfoldingaid
Folding Aid I usually make the pots whilst watching TV and use a thin piece of MDF, marked up with the various fold sizes, on my knees. If the pots are for use soon I throw them into a cardboard box but if they are to be stored I fold them flat when complete and put them in tens with an elastic band around there....

The JANDORR Pot
The JANDORR Pot One sheet (two pages) of broadsheet makes a pot about 100 mm square and 95 mm high. One sheet of tabloid gives 65 mm high and 77 mm high. Half a sheet of tabloid makes a module sized pot of 50 mm square by 70 mm high with just two 70 mm (rather than three) folds to form the sides. Drawings and...

AroundTheGarden
Vegetables My interest is mainly in the vegetables but we did sell dahlias, sweet peas and the vegetables at the garden gate from May to the first frosts until four years ago. Several types of squash are used as weed suppressants and at the end of the season - - there is always something for the harvest festival...
